There are active farms within the Sumneytown Pike/PA 309 Connector project area, primarily producing soybeans, corn and dairy products. The proposed connector will make use of existing roadways where possible and will create a new roadway where needed. In areas where the proposed connector follows Wambold Road and Township Line Road, roadway widening may require small "sliver-takes" of agricultural land.

The new roadway, which is proposed between Allentown Road and Cowpath Road, would generally follow the Franconia Township-Hatfield Township boundary line. With the exception of the PECO Elroy Substation, this proposed construction would require the use of agricultural lands. PENNDOT’s project team is gathering information from farm owners to understand the nature of their farming operations. This information will be used to guide roadway design, to assess potential impacts, and to consider potential mitigation measures that will minimize impacts to these operations.
