Status Update
Completion of construction on Sumneytown Pike/PA 309 Connector HT2 is anticipated fall 2025. Upcoming SR 1058 HT2 construction includes installing ITS facilities and continuing construction on existing Township Line Road. The right-of-way process and design activities are ongoing.
HT2 (Phase II) – Currently In Construction
The second section of the project includes building a new roadway alignment from Allentown Road to Cowpath Road and reconstructing Township Line Road from Cowpath Road to Hatfield/Souderton Pike in Hatfield and Franconia Townships. This section covers 2.3 miles. The project includes five signalized intersections, noise walls on both sides between Elroy Road and Cowpath Road, and 1.5 miles of multi-use trail. Right-of-way negotiations are completed. The project was advertised for construction in the fall of 2021 and construction is underway and expected to completed in the fall of 2025. Please see PennDOT press release for more information.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restriction:
- Tuesday, January 3, through the end of Fall 2024, Township Line Road will be closed and detoured between Cowpath Road and Penn Avenue. During the 24/7 closure, motorists will be directed to use Cowpath Road, Bergey Road and Penn Avenue.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near or through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
Improvements to the ramp include widening the southbound I-476 on-ramp to two lanes; and constructing a second left turn only lane for Route 63 (Summneytown Pike) motorists to access the new Slip ramp to southbound I-476.
This ramp improvement is part of PennDOT’s Route 309 Section HT2 project, which covers 2.3 miles and is the second of three contracts to move to construction to build the five-mile-long Route 309 Connector Project in Montgomery and Bucks counties to enhance mobility and safety for motorists traveling between Route 309 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Interchange.
Sound Wall Construction:
Between Elroy Rd and Cowpath Rd new roadway construction consists of six (6) Sound Walls that are set to begin construction activities starting in January 2023.
In January 2023 and following months, Allan Myers, and its subcontractors will begin performing construction activities related to the Sound Wall construction in the area noted above. This work will consist of sound wall drilling and caisson construction, concrete, and earthwork operations, and then culminate in the setting of posts and panels to complete the noise wall construction.
